About Dr. Simon
Dr. Aaron Simon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UC Irvine and in the UCSD Department of Radiation Medicine & Applied Sciences (RMAS), Division of Radiation Oncology. He is a member of the RMAS Center for Precision Radiation Medicine (CPRM) and serves as the UC Irvine Associate Radiation Oncology Program Director.
He sees patients at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, including the Irvine and Fountain Valley locations. His clinical practice is focused on treating central nervous system (CNS) malignancies, particularly brain metastases, where he also leads a Phase III trial comparing single-fraction vs. fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
Dr. Simon’s research harnesses advanced quantitative imaging to enhance diagnosis, treatment precision, and follow-up care for CNS and Head & Neck cancers. He has authored several high-impact publications, notably on combined survival and tumor control probability modeling for brain metastases treated by radiosurgery, and on developing predictive tools for lymph node metastasis in muscle-invasive bladder cancer. In 2022, he was selected for the prestigious Comparative Effectiveness Research Training (CERT) Program, a nationwide training led by RSNA, ASNR, SIRF, and SNMMI, based on his project titled “Efficacy of upfront CNSpenetrating systemic therapy in the management of brain metastases”.
