About Dr. Sherer
Dr. Sherer is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Radiation Oncology and serves as the Chief of the Gastrointestinal (GI) Section. He is also a co-leader of the GI Disease Team for Moores Cancer Center. He is an Associate Program Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program and oversees all Medical Student clinical rotations.
His clinic is at our La Jolla Treatment Facility within the Moores Cancer Center. His academic interests include developing novel educational platforms to improve the quality of radiation treatment planning and care delivery. He has served as an Associate Editor of eContour.org, an online visually-based contouring access designed to improve access to evidence based contouring recommendations at the point of care. He also leads the development of an interactive software platform called iContour that provides real time feedback to physicians as they contour and is the PI of an RSNA supported randomized trial to assess the platform's efficacy as a component of residency training. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles on these and other topics in publications including JAMA Oncology, Cancer, and Radiotherapy and Oncology.
