About Dr. Rose

Dr. Brent Rose is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Division of Radiation Oncology. He also serves as Co-Lead of the Moores Cancer Center Genitourinary (GU) Disease Team and is the Medical Director of the La Jolla Radiation Oncology Clinic. He holds a Joint Appointment in the Department of Urology.

His clinical practice is focused on GU malignancies including prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancer.  He sees patients in the La Jolla Radiation Oncology Center and the California Proton Therapy Center.  In addition, he participates in Multi-disciplinary GU Oncology Clinics together with Urologists and GU Medical Oncologists held in the Koman Outpatient Pavilion.

A dedicated clinical translational researcher, Dr. Rose is the Co-Director of the RMAS Center for Health Equity, Education and Research (CHEER) and has received multiple prestigious grants from both the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) and has published over 100 research articles in numerous prestigious journals including  the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI), Nature Communications, Cancer, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and JAMA Oncology, among others. His primary research focus is on prostate cancer, particularly on identifying and addressing the longstanding outcome disparities suffered by African American men with prostate cancer in this country. Currently, he is investigating how inherited genetic factors influence prostate cancer risk, as well as their impact on cancer screening and treatment across all racial groups. His research group leverages large databases including VINCI and the Million Veterans Project.
