About Dr. Scott
Dr. Nathan L. Scott is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences, Division of Applied Sciences. He is Chief of the Ocular Oncology Division at the Shiley Eye Institute and Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology.
A dedicated physician-scientist, his clinical focus is on vitreoretinal diseases and surgery, as well as ocular oncology. His clinical research and interests include utilizing imaging and genomic/molecular technologies to better understand, diagnose and treat cancers of the eye. His scholarly output spans a range of topics, including studies on ocular oncology, retinal diseases, and disparities in ophthalmic care—for instance, analyzing ophthalmic services for incarcerated or detained populations and developing AI tools for retinal imaging.
Dr. Scott is actively engaged with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, where he serves on the executive board of the minority ophthalmology mentoring (MOM) program and is a member of the young ophthalmology advocacy sub-committee.
