About Dr. Majumdar
Dr. Amit Majumdar is an Associate Professor in the Division of Applied Sciences and serves as the Director of the Data-Enabled Scientific Computing (DESC) Division at the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
At the San Diego Supercomputer Center, he oversees key organizational units such as HighPerformance Computing Systems, User Services, Scientific Computing Applications, Cloud Software Development, and Cyberinfrastructure Services.
Dr. Majumdar’s research contributions span high-performance computing (HPC), computational science, and the development of cyberinfrastructure software and science gateways. His work includes parallel algorithm design, performance analysis, and tools that enable researchers across disciplines to scale their applications effectively. Notably, he has spearheaded federal initiatives including 1) the Neuroscience Gateway (NSG), the NSF-funded hpcGPT and Cybershuttle projects and 3) ACCESS (Open Cyber-Infrastructure Ecosystem) and participation in large-scale computational infrastructure for science and engineering.
