About Dr. Karunameni
Dr. Roshan Karunameni is an Associate Project Scientist in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences, Division of Radiation Oncology and the Center for Precision Radiation Medicine (CPRM),
He is a core contributor to quantitative neuroimaging research within the Hattangadi Lab at UCSD. His work centers on investigating radiation therapy–induced changes in brain structure and function, including: 1) Mapping cognitive decline and cortical atrophy following brain radiotherapy using advanced diffusion MRI and volumetric techniques, 2) Developing computational imaging tools and biomarkers (such as Quantitative Neuroimaging Biomarkers, Restriction Spectrum Imaging, RT dose modeling) to predict and mitigate neurocognitive sequelae post-treatment. Recent publications explore topics like cortical atrophy trajectories in primary brain tumor patients and polygenic scores for prostate cancer risk
Dr. Karunameni contributes significantly to both imaging-focused projects and method development, working alongside other prominent RMAS including Carrie McDonald PhD and Tyler Seibert MD PhD.
