About Dr. Deichaite
Dr. Ida Deichaite is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Applied Sciences in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences and a member of the RMAS Center for Precision Radiation Medicine (CPRM) at UC San Diego.
Her research focuses on prostate cancer and head and neck cancer radiogenomics to personalize radiation therapy and improve patient outcomes. With a strong foundation in translational health sciences, she also applies a pan-cancer approach to identifying actionable susceptibility targets in aggressive cancers. Her work adopts a “bed-to-bench” model, integrating real-world clinical genomics with laboratory-based validation studies to advance novel diagnostic and therapeutic mechanisms across cancer types.
In addition to her academic research, Dr. Deichaite has more than 20 years of experience overseeing the translational aspects of oncology at the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, with a particular emphasis on turning innovation into commercial applications. She has successfully partnered with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to design and execute translational alliances between academia and industry. She is also the founder of the Industry/Academia Precision Oncology & RadMed Symposium, now in its 21st year, a highly visible event that supports innovation at UCSD and the San Diego biotech ecosystem.
