About Dr. Coyne
Dr. Christopher Coyne is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Radiation Medicine & Applied Sciences (RMAS), Division of Applied Sciences. He serves as the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs as well as the Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He also serves as the Medical Director of Cancer Acute Care for the Moores Cancer Center.
His clinical practice is dedicated to improving urgent care for oncology patients, especially those facing oncologic emergencies, integrating acute care expertise with precision research-driven interventions.
Dr. Coyne’s research focuses on the advancement of cancer emergency care. He is the Associate Editor for the Oncologic Emergencies Textbook and has published multiple articles on related topics. As Director of Clinical Research, he expanded the department’s Emergency Medicine Research Special Studies (EMRSS) lab, which now supports studies ranging from oncologic emergencies to HIV screening, EMS utilization, and geriatric emergency care, while overseeing the department’s research associates program. He collaborates with researchers across the country, and his findings have been presented at major emergency medicine and oncology conferences, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting and the National Oncologic Emergencies Conference at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
