About Dr. Sharabi

Dr. Sharabi is an Associate Professor and the Director of the RMAS Center for Precision Radiation Medicine (CPRM). He also serves as the RMAS Assistant Vice Chair for Philanthropy and Development. He is the Director of the Moores Cancer Center Radiation Medicine Core Facility and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the San Diego Center for Precision Immunotherapy. Clinically, he is an active member of the Genitourinary and Head and Neck Cancer Disease Teams.

A dedicated Basic and Translational Scientist, his research focus is on understanding the fundamental interactions between radiation and the immune system, and on identifying strategies to combine radiation with immunotherapy. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) on a National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 Grant focused on adaptive immune responses in Head/Neck cancer and a Co-Investigator on a prestigious NIH Moonshot U01 Grant evaluating neo-antigen T-cell responses in Head/Neck cancer. He is also the PI of a randomized phase II clinical trial translating his preclinical laboratory work into patients as well as an early phase clinical trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of combining immunotherapy and SBRT in early stage lung cancer.

In addition to being a researcher, Dr. Sharabi is also a clinician and practices at our La Jolla Facility within the Moores Cancer Center. He is involved with Resident Education overseeing the Radiation Biology Curriculum. He serves on multiple Department and National Committees including Chair of the Immunotherapy Track for the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Education Committee.
