About Dr. Rose

Dr. Brent Rose is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Division of Radiation Oncology. He is also the Chief of the Genitourinary (GU) Disease Team, specializing in novel approaches for the treatment of prostate cancer. He is the Co-Director of the Center for Health Equity, Education and Research (CHEER) within the Altman Clinical Translational Research Institute (ACTRI). Dr. Rose is also an active member of the Lung Cancer Treatment Team. He also holds a Joint Appointment in the Department of Urology.

A dedicated clinical translational researcher, Dr. Rose is a recipient of multiple grants and awards from the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation, including a 4-year DOD Physician Research Award focused on Active Surveillance in African-American prostate cancer patients. He has published over 45 articles focusing on health outcomes and novel radiotherapy planning and treatment approaches. He participates in the Multi-Disciplinary High Risk Prostate Cancer Clinic, working closely with Moores Cancer Center GU Medical Oncologists and Urologists. He has a special interest in combining stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) with systemic therapy in oligometastic prostate cancer patients.

Dr. Rose is involved with Medical Student education at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and oversees senior students performing independent study projects (ISP). He is also a member of the Scientific Planning Committee of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) which oversees the Annual Meeting program.
