About Dr. Ray

Dr. Xenia Ray is an Assistant Professor and a member of the La Jolla Physics Team. She is the Associate Director of Adaptive Radiotherapy in the Center for Quality, Innovation, Value and Efficiency in Radiotherapy (QUIVER). She also serves as the Gynecologic Cancer Technology Service Chief for the Department and leads the development of knowledge-based planning models for clinical use via RapidPlan.

Her research interests are focused on personalizing radiation therapy to improve patient care and the development of automated tools to facilitate research and clinical efficiency. She is currently investigating the dosimetric gains possible with daily adaptive planning and how to predict the benefit per patient prior to treatment. She is simultaneously working to develop a platform to facilitate on-treatment decision making for online adaptive patients. Past projects included using radiomics features extracted from computed tomography images to predict non-small cell lung cancer outcomes, developing metrics to evaluate the performance of publicly available knowledge-based treatment models, and investigating the sensitivity of transit images to detect changes during treatment.

Dr. Ray is also an active clinical medical physicist in external beam radiotherapy, online adaptive radiotherapy, and brachytherapy. She plays an integral part in resident education as a UCSD lecturer and serves as the mentor for the Abdomen/Pelvis Treatment Planning and Advanced Treatment Planning residency rotations.</pDr. Ray is also an active clinical medical physicist in external beam radiotherapy, online adaptive radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.
