About Dr. Sanghvi
Dr. Parag Sanghvi is a Professor and Vice Chair within the Division of Radiation Oncology in the Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. He has previously held multiple leadership positions within both the Department and the Moores NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, reflecting his dedication to advancing state-of-the-art cancer care in San Diego and beyond.
Currently, Dr. Sanghvi serves as the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Director of the Learning Environment within the UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of physicians and fostering an inclusive, supportive educational environment. In his clinical capacity, he serves as Service Chief for Hematologic Malignancies in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Hematology Disease team co-leader for the Moores Cancer Center overseeing the multidisciplinary treatment and management of patients with hematologic cancers.
Dr. Sanghvi’s clinical expertise encompasses the management of head and neck cancers, cutaneous malignancies, hematologic malignancies, and benign central nervous system (CNS) tumors. He utilizes advanced radiation techniques—including external beam radiotherapy, proton radiotherapy, and brachytherapy—to deliver highly individualized and precise care for his patients.
A respected national and international leader in the field of radiation oncology, Dr. Sanghvi is deeply engaged in professional and scientific societies. He serves on the Lymphoma/Leukemia Committee for the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and as Chair of the Scholarship Committee for the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). Within the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), he contributes to multiple key initiatives as a member of the Annual Education Committee, Government Relations Committee, and Sexual and Gender Minority Committee, supporting efforts in education, policy, and diversity within the specialty.
He has also served as the course director for multiple international head and neck cancer contouring courses taught across Asia, Central and South America, and sub-Saharan Africa through partnerships with Rayos Contra Cancer and Radiating Hope.
Dr. Sanghvi has also held prominent roles in the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), serving as Annual Scientific Committee Chair for Cutaneous Malignancies, where he led national efforts to advance research, education, and innovation in the treatment of skin cancers.
In recognition of his significant contributions to clinical excellence, education, and leadership in radiation oncology, Dr. Sanghvi has been honored as a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (FACRO), a Fellow of the American Brachytherapy Society (FABS), and a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (FASTRO), a distinction reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field.
