Gene Lamanilao, M.D., M.S.

PGY-2 Resident

  • Dr. Gene Lamanilao was originally born in the Philippines but raised in Memphis, TN. After completing his undergraduate studies at Rhodes College, he went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Inspired by his mother's experience with breast cancer, Dr. Lamanilao found his calling in Radiation Oncology, driven by the desire to support others as they undergo their journeys with cancer. He chose UCSD for the chance to work with some of the best minds in the field, the wonderful and supportive community of residents, the diverse opportunities to engage in research, the breadth of complex clinical cases that supplements the comprehensive training, and the beauty of San Diego. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his partner and their fur babies, exploring the vibrant food scene in Hillcrest and North Park, and attempting to catch some waves while he learns to surf.
