About Dr. Marquez

Dr. Barbara Marquez is a first-year medical physics resident at UCSD. She is originally from Venezuela and grew up in Miami, Florida. Barbara was a Posse Foundation Leadership scholar at Mount Holyoke College, where she completed her undergraduate degree in physics. She later earned her doctorate degree at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as a fellow of the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas Innovation in Cancer Prevention program. Barbara was drawn to UCSD because of its vibrant and engaging faculty and staff, who have a clear mission to develop the full value of physics in radiation oncology, including contributing to direct patient care. Outside of work, Barbara can be found attending a local concert, taking her dog on scenic beach walks, or weightlifting.
