About Dr. Cole

Maxwell grew up in Dallas, TX, before attending Louisiana State University to study physics. As an undergraduate, he joined Dr. Wayne Newhauser’s medical physics lab, where he became passionate about improving patient outcomes through research. After completing his undergraduate in 2020, Maxwell continued at LSU for his doctoral studies in medical physics. His research centered on the development of a cardiovascular digital twin, blending his technical interests with his focus on collaborative, patient-centered science. In 2025, he earned his PhD and began his medical physics residency at UCSD. He was drawn to UCSD by the shared commitment to compassionate care, advancing physics in medicine, and pursuing innovation in treatment and research. Besides physics, Maxwell enjoys playing soccer, cooking, and exploring new music.
