Clinical Rotation Overview

Clinical rotations at UC San Diego are designed to develop competencies and promote independent thinking in our residents.  Our residents are encouraged to take the lead on clinical tasks with guidance and support from faculty physicists. The following schedule is an example of clinical rotations for 1st and 2nd year medical physics residents.

Note: Treatment Planning and Delivery rotations include: initial consult observations, treatment planning, and clinical coverage (simulation and treatment) for electron and photon treatments (including 3D conformal, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, DIBH, TBI, TSE, etc.)

Note: Advanced Treatment Planning includes Knowledge-Based Planning and Adaptive Radiotherapy. Full clinical practice rotation length will vary depending on vacation, large ad-hoc clinical projects (such as commissioning) and/or any extension to prior rotations.
