One 80% Day shift position with benefits starting on the date of hire.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: As a member of the Oncology Outpatient team: coordinate outpatient care and treatments; primary care and nursing duties involving complete oncology care for patients and their families. Assists with patient management during procedures, including physiologic monitoring, cardiac outputs, etc. Assists with inventory, sterilization and maintenance of procedure trays and related supplies Liaison wit h other departments to coordinate patient treatments and care. Adhere to Quality Service standards. Carry out nursing functions as assigned. Develop, interpret, evaluate, implement, and document plan of care for oncology clinic patients. Provide specific teaching, counseling, consultation and nursing care both independently and a s directed by physician. May be crossed trained in other areas of the clinic. . 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Current California RN License, BSN, BLS certification, ACLS or commitment to become certified upon hire. OCN certification preferred or commitment within 12-18 months of hire.
Minimum of 2 years clinical oncology experience, strong knowledge of cancer care, diagnosis and treatments; ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies; skilled in IV and venipuncture; knowledge of use and care of VADs; able to work with terminally ill patients and patients undergoing extensive cancer treatments. Knowledge of research protocols and treatment regimens. Knowledege of managed care and various insurance requirements, positive communication and telephone skills, positive stress management and coping skills. Must be able to work in an area with exposure to radiation equipment, radioactive materials, and chemotherapeutic agents. Must possess excellent I.V. skills. Knowledge of case manager role required.
