The UCSD Department of Radiation Oncology is currently developing an IGRT Training program.  This 2-day course will be held on-site in the Department of Radiation Oncology in the Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center in La Jolla, California.

Unlike other IGRT training programs, the UCSD IGRT Training program is focused on the practicing radiation oncologist who is planning to either begin using IGRT in his/her clinic or expand its use.

Lectures by Faculty Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists with experience in a wide variety of IGRT techniques will provide the attendee with an overview of the rationale of IGRT and an understanding of the current available technologies for managing inter- and intra-fraction organ motion, including ultrasound-based techniques, video, planar and volumetric imaging systems.

Practical session will focus on various planar and volumetric IGRT approaches, including cone beam CT (CBCT), 4D CT and respiratory gating.  An overview of the financial aspects of IGRT (billing, reimbursement, compliance) will also be provided.

Expected Inauguration: Fall 2007
