Our Programs
UC San Diego Radiation Oncology South Bay provides radiation therapy that targets the tumor and spares healthy tissue by using the most advanced technology available in the market. Our radiation oncology team couples this state-of-the-art technology with a compassionate and caring approach to cancer care which ensures that patients feel at ease and comfortable while receiving cancer care.
Treatment modalities offered by UC San Diego Radiation Oncology South Bay include:
The TrilogyTM Stereotactic System is a linear accelerator used for External Beam Radiation Therapy. This is a non-invasive, painless procedure that involves hitting the target site with precise high energy radiation beams in order to cease or slow the growth of harmful cancerous tissue. The following is a list of treatment options available at our site:
- Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) is a radiation technique that combines the principals of external beam with real-time diagnostic images to account for tumor movement during therapy.
- Electron Beam Therapy allows for the accurate delivery of radiation to external tumors such as skin cancers or skin lesions.
In addition to offering these advanced treatment modalities, the Trilogy System is enhanced with the latest innovation in external beam therapy known as RapidArcTM technology. The use of RapidArc reduces treatment times by up to 60%, while maintaining the same level of precision and therapeutic efficacy. With the exception of the Moores UCSD Cancer Center in La Jolla, the South Bay facility is the only cancer center in the area to offer RapidArc.
